The past two-semester of NLGL study in NC State has widely broadened my eyes of how classroom can be conducted, how learning interest can be activated, how student can be motivated, how technology can be engaged as a promoter rather than an obstacle, how professors can exert great impact on students… All these are valuable experience for me, as a learner, researcher, and a teacher.
A synthesis of what I have learned provides me a chance to reflect on my experience as a student, before I can apply the knowledge to my instruction as a teacher. The formation of my compelling question is based on the current situation of my target students and the overall teaching environment in BRS. The action plan I've designed is aimed at rebuilding the Golden Age of Reading for my students, with what I have learned in this NLGL Program.
The action plan is still a rough draft, and there might be some problems and oversights in the process. Fortunately, I have many back-up forces in BRS, those excellent teachers who have successfully graduated from NC State. I believe, with their help and support, I can have my plan implemented someday, not far away, in BRS classrooms.
I once heard a sentence, “deep inside, we stay kids forever”. Now, I’d like to rewrite it, “deep inside, let's stay kids and life-long readers forever”.
It is high time to launch this tough but worthy fight for a brighter prospect in our educational career. Let's go for it!
If not us, who? If not now, when?
